Vintage 1930′s 40′s or 50′s MCM Bauhaus Style Mushroom Table or Desk Lamp
Just out of a local smoke free house is this vintage MCM Bauhaus style mushroom table or desk lamp. The lamp is unmarked except for an old UL label on the bottom. The label is marked number 97,449 and E-20773. The style is similar to lamps by several Bauhaus designers. It has a black steel base, column, and shade with chrome accents. It has a plastic diffuser under the shade. It measures about 17 inches tall, about 14 inches across the shade, and about 6 inches across the base. The lamp is in good preowned condition with some discoloration and warping to the diffuser, some scratches, light scuffs, some minimal paint loss under the finial, and some chrome loss to the top of the finial. The wiring and electrics are all original and the electrics work well. Just add your bulbs. See photos as they are part of the description. Vintage Mushroom Lamp Bill Curry Stemlite Design Line Mid Century Modern Light
Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a vintage mushroom designed by Bill Curry for Stemlite / Design Line Inc. The metal tulip base is a beige color. There is an on/off rotary knob switch located on the metal base just below where the shade rests. The underside of the base has its original UL label, and there is also a number sequence stamped into the metal, along with what appears to be a symbol (see photos). A great vintage addition to any mcm interior setting! The lamp stands approx. 11.25″ tall x 12.5″ in diameter. Condition: Overall, given its age, we’d say the lamp is in very good condition. The base shows some minor paint loss that can be left alone or easily touched up (see photos). The glass shade is free from chips, cracks, breaks, repairs, etc. The electrical wiring is in good shape – no frays, splits, exposed and / or brittle wires. Vintage Mid Century Modern Green Mushroom Lamp A Gilbert Creation made by Softlite. Beautiful lamp measures approximately 17 inches tall and diameter of 12 inches. Minor wear to the shade. Note the original label is still attached. PLEASE READ: There is a crack at the top of the stem, I have it pointed in one of the photos. Lamp still works nicely and looks great in spite of the crack. The crack is solid, at the point where the receptacle inserts into the stem and it causes no issues with function, it is not broken out, and cannot see it when viewing the front of the lamp.
