Vintage Italian Alabaster Table Lamp Hand Carved Urn Made in Italy Mid-Century
A stunning example of mid-century Italian craftsmanship. This solid alabaster lamp features a classic urn shape with intricate hand-carved leaf detailing. Because it is carved from natural stone, it features unique marble-like veining and a beautiful translucency when placed near light. Details: Authenticity: Hand-etched “Made in Italy” on the bottom of the base. Construction: Very heavy, solid stone construction. As a vintage natural stone piece, there are some minor “flea bite” chips on the sharp edges of the carvings and slight discoloration/patina on the cord and socket consistent with age (see photos). These do not detract from its structural integrity or overall beauty. Note: Lamp shade and bulb not included.

This mid-century modern lamp is in remarkable condition, with all of its original brass fixtures and segment configuration. Almost every other lamp of this type that I have ever seen does not have its original configuration and brass. This is the full lamp, not one of those 2 segment smaller lamps. This is a true collectors piece. Incandescent or LED bulb lighting technology provide a warm and cozy glow atop this historic glasswork. The lamp’s sturdy brass and glass material, along with its amazing shining gold finish, are the perfect combination of durability and style that were classic for it’s period. Brass fixtures retain their original patina and glass work is in pristine condition with no cracks, chips or breaks. Bona fides/Provenance: Incredibly, the base is still insulated with an original October 11th edition of the Times newspaper! See photos it’s really really cool!
