Aladdin Venetian 99 Clear. One Piece “Fused” Version. RARE and Hard to Find. The Venetian Table Lamp series was the first glass table lamp Aladdin made, following the metal Model 12. Aladdin made the Venetian series in 1932 and 1933. The Venetian series comprised 5 lamps: Rose, Peach, Satin White and Clear. The colored lamps were painted two-piece construction where the stem was screwed and glue into the font bowl. The 99 Clear Venetian came in two versions: (1) a version where the glass stem was fused to the font bowl, and (2) a two-piece version with the same threads and collar as the colored lamps. The clear fused version is often referred to as a “one-piece” but is really two pieces fused together. This lamp is the “one-piece” fused version which is the most prized version for collectors. The 99 Clear Venetian is a rare Aladdin. Consequently, there are far fewer of these in the U. Than the painted colored versions. The painted versions are subject to chippi9ng and permanently entrapping dirt in the paint. All versions are subject to the fill cap threads breading if you apply force to a stuck fill cap. The joint between the stem and base of the fused “one-piece” clear version is subject to breakage. All versions have a very thin foot rim that is subject to much chipping. It is rare to find a perfect Venetian. Unlike most Venetian, the foot rim is not chipped, which is quite rare. The font bowl is clear with no kerosene residue. However, the stem was broken from the base and I repaired it. The Clear Venetian in my personal collection is perfect. By comparison, this repaired one is a very good deal. A 99 Clear Venetian is hard to find in ANY condition. Collar and Fill Cap Condition. Collar is in surprisingly good condition – most of these are corroded. Lamp has a period-correct concave fill cap that is in excellent condition. Fill cap screws on and off smoothly. I use “box-within-box” to prevent damage. 6021 99 Venetian Clear.
