Vintage Original Mid Century Modern Laurel Table Lamp Brass Wood Sculptural. MCM LAUREL LAMP Original Shade Brass Walnut Eames Era. Mid Century 60′s Lamp made by Laurel. Retains original shade which has Walnut Wood “Lozenge” shapes glued on cloth shade. Lamp works, but as with all vintage lighting we recommend checking and updating wiring. Wear commensurate with age and use. Some scuffing and one spot of brass plating on one base where lamp has swiveled. Lamp can be tightened. Otherwise, brass is bright and lustrous. Walnut– rich in color. Shade–One shade has dents in fabric and small chip from one wood lozenge. The other has a small stain. On the bases, one green cover is missing. All wood lozenge pieces securely in place. Iconic Space age lamp. Very hard to find original shade. Measurements: The lamps are a 29.5 tall, and about 7 wide without the shade. Vintage Original Bestlite BL1 Table Lamp Mid Century Modernist Bauhaus Lamp
Vintage Bestlite BL1 Table Lamp designed by Robert Dudley Best. The lamp was inspired by Bauhaus designs and was reviewed in the Architects Journal and was hailed as the first manifestation of Bauhaus in England. Best drew his inspiration for the lamp from his exposure to French and German design, having studied at the Dusseldorf School of Industrial Design and during that time befriended Walter Gropius (Head of Bauhaus). Once the lamp was produced it became very popular known for its quality, clarity and elegance. Winston Churchill had one on his desk in his Whitehall air-raid shelter during the Second World War. This is a good example of a BL1 Table lamp featuring the heavy cast iron base which dates it to being one of the early models most likely from the early 1930′s. The lamp is in good condition with some age related marks and patina as to be expected. The lamp moves well, The curved shade rotates and tilts through its axis and the arm also tilts up and down. The height of the lamp is also adjustable. The chrome arms have age related patina and the dark green shade has a few marks commensurate with age and use. The lamp is currently in good working order and currently has a UK plug.
