Oriental Table Lamp Figurative Ceramic Vintage Gold 6 Tier Venetian Shade Tested
For sale is a mid-century, very unique and desirable ceramic Oriental themed. Table lamp with a gold venetian shade, the shade looks as if it may have been a vibrant orange color at one time. The lamp has two traditionally dressed figures sitting in a twisted tree, one figure is playing a guitar like instrument and the other I believe is holding some sort of an animal? The lamp is topped off with a small crystal ball finial and has a recessed area to put coins or jewelry. We tested the lamp and it works great, overall in excellent pre-owned condition. There is a very small chip on the front right, see photo I think it could easily be covered with some gold paint. The red paint on the figures is also chipping, see photos. If the lamp is going to be used regularly it should probably have the plug replaced, just to be safe! While I was cleaning the dust off the lamp I noticed the red paint was coming off the lamp? It appears that the red paint was applied after market on top of the glaze. The shade could also be refinished as there are some minor issues with the paint finish, or it could be used as is if desired. The lamp is definitely unique and a great conversation piece! The complete lamp measures. 56 cm’s (22 inches) from the top of the finial to the bottom of the base. Weighs 2 kg 750 grams (6 lbs 1 oz). The ceramic portion of the lamp measures as follows. 29.3 cm’s (11 1/2 inches) length. 26 cm’s (10 1/4 inches) height. 16.5 cm’s (6 1/2 inches) depth. The Venetian shade measures as follows. 34.3 cm’s (13 1/2 inches) length. 22.3 cm’s (8 3/4 inches) height. 24.2 cm’s (9 1/2 inches) depth.
