- but don’t worry.. It is a good example of what i do, and i probably have other lanterns waiting to be made into something just like this so please ask if you want something like it! I have done a hanging version, a wall mounted version and now i thought i would make a free standing/table version of one of these lovely vintage coach lights for a change, and here it is… An excellent addition to the right style of office, desk, study, library etc… Or even just on a shelf or mantelpiece! I have restored the coach light to it’s forma glory by cleaning, removing any traces of rust, replacing the glass, i have then installed a brand new B22 (bayonet) lamp holder and cabling. I then made a base from a piece of real solid hardwood, waxed it, routed it and created a simple stand from some steel, this gives a simple but effective’floating’ but very sturdy light with loads of character and history. The light is mainly black/brushed silver in color, made entirely from metal, there are 2 glass windows to shine the light, the front opens/closes and latches nicely, the round glass on the front has a lovely brass surround. I currently have a similar wall mounted version that matches this light well, so let me know if you are looking for some matching lights and we can do a deal!! The light is vintage but the base, stand, cabling, lamp holder etc. Is all brand new, there is also a simple in-line switch installed. Supplied with French plug top, but can be easily changed to English for a few pence! The size is approximately 420mm high x 150mm wide, it weighs about 1.75kg.
