Antique Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Table Lamp c1920

An antique Chinese cloisonné enamel vase converted into a table lamp. The central base is crafted using a traditional cloisonné metalwork technique where thin wires form compartments filled with colorful vitreous enamel paste. The body of the lamp features a traditional globular bottle or baluster form mounted onto a carved dark wooden openwork base. The body displays a vibrant turquoise-blue ground decorated with multicolored scrollwork, blooming lotus or peony blossoms, and tiered decorative ruyi/leaf borders along the neck. The lamp body is likely from circa 1920. It has been rewired recently. Overall – 23.25 in (59.1 cm) tall x 7 in (17.8 cm) diameter. Body – 10 in (25.4 cm) tall x 7 in (17.8 cm) diameter. Weighs 5 lbs 8.5 oz. The lamp works and cord is in good condition. The weights inside the body are loose and so it jiggles when shaken. The body has one old dent (see photos). Otherwise, the enamels are in very good condition with only light pitting. The brass mouth and base have a nice patina, indicating significant age. A nice old lamp with a well crafted cloisonne base.
