Vintage Mid Century 1960′s Plasto Mfg Co Table Lamp Chalkware Black Gold White
The Plasto Manufacturing Company was started in 1945 by Joseph M. As the name indicated, Plasto lamps were made of chalkware of plaster of Paris. Few of these lamps survive as the plaster can be somewhat fragile. This estate-found lamp is in great condition. The plaster appears to be near perfect with no chips or flaws we can see. There is striated, molded, plaster on the blackish portion and a smooth texture to the gold and white sections, giving it a nice contrast. Upon photographing, we noted a few dibs and dabs of touch up paint on the white and gold portions. As all of the colors are fairly standard, it would be a cinch to paint over any sections desired and would even benefit the plaster to have a bit more coverage from the elements. The brass base has a patina, lovely as is, or can be cleaned. The lamp is fully functional but we note a long-ago repair to what is probably a frayed cord– see photos. The lamp measures 33″ tall (we have no shade) and 25″ in circumference.
