Excellent pair of lamps in working condition, really lucky to find a matching pair and in such great condition. See photos for measurements, they are approximately 26 tall to the top of the harp. Some history of the Gruvwood style. Manufactured by National Products of Louisville, the Gruvwood line of lamps was selected for the 1964 Worlds Fair to be featured in the House of Good Taste. The line was subsequently used by leading mid century American and European designers of the day in their decor. The name “Gruvwood” came from the use of strips or squares of walnut hardwood that were separated by 45 degree angled gaps. The lamps show light evidence of use, a few minor rubs to the black metal trim on top and bottom, an easy fix with a dab of marker or paint. The walnut is in great shape as shown in photos. 2 different switch mechanisms, not sure which came first but one was obviously changed at some point. Wonderful lamp in mint condition, this is the granddaddy of Gruvwood table lamps, standing a full 36 with shade. Manufactured by National Products of Louisville, the Gruvwood line of lamps was selected for the 1964 Worlds Fair to be featured in the House of Good Taste. The line was subsequently used by leading mid century American and European designers of the day in their decor. The name “Gruvwood” came from the use of strips or squares of walnut hardwood that were separated by 45 degree angled gaps. As shown in photos, our lamp is solid and in working condition with its original double shade and wiring. Typical of the age, there is very slight heat stain to the inner shade, very minor and virtually unseen when lamp is on. The metal base show tiny rubs along the bottom edge, again, practically unnoticeable unless flipped over for photos as shown here. An easy fix with dabs of marker or paint.
