An antique Chinese cloisonné enamel vase converted into a table lamp. The central base is crafted using a traditional cloisonné metalwork technique where thin wires form compartments filled with colorful vitreous enamel paste. The body of the lamp features a traditional globular bottle or baluster form mounted onto a carved dark wooden openwork base. The body displays a vibrant turquoise-blue ground decorated with multicolored scrollwork, blooming lotus or peony blossoms, and tiered decorative ruyi/leaf borders along the neck. The lamp body is likely from circa 1920. It has been rewired recently. Overall – 23.25 in (59.1 cm) tall x 7 in (17.8 cm) diameter. Body – 10 in (25.4 cm) tall x 7 in (17.8 cm) diameter. Weighs 5 lbs 8.5 oz. The lamp works and cord is in good condition. The weights inside the body are loose and so it jiggles when shaken. The body has one old dent (see photos). Otherwise, the enamels are in very good condition with only light pitting. The brass mouth and base have a nice patina, indicating significant age. A nice old lamp with a well crafted cloisonne base. This is a small to medium sized table lamp with a graceful Chinese pattern in the doucai style in which contrasting enamels are fitting together with underglaze blue. Probably late 20th century (1980s/1990s). Vase is mounted on a very nice carved wooden Chinese hardwood base. Excellent for an elegant splash of color. Vase is 10 1/2 tall. About 6 at widest.

This is a pair of Chinoiserie lamps for the 80′s in a pattern known as “Flame Stitch” or “Peacock Feather”. The colors are various pastels and color theme is typical of the period of manufacture. The glaze has subtle mottled areas of a greenish tone between the pastel “feathers” – The glaze is very lightly iridized enhancing color and reflectivity. The base and lamp cap are a deep mocha color and are stained wood. These lamps are absolutely clean, free of chips, cracks, scratches or other problems.
